Donations for Darfur

Cameras and satellite internet

Small cameras from Slovenia do more in Darfur than 20,000 members of the peace mission, claims the humanitarian coordinator of the rebels Suleiman Jammous, who once again visited Slovenia.

In Darfur there are around 20,000 members of the United Nations and the African Union mission, however, they do not do anything for the people of Darfur. The International Community is throwing money out the window. A single small camera has done more good than all the peace makers together because the murderers and the violators are in fear of being caught on camera (Jammous shows one of the cameras brought to Darfur in the winter by Tomo Križnar and Klemen Mihelič, entrepreneur and founder of a new non-governmental organization H.O.P.E.). Thank you, Tomo and Klemen. Thank you, Slovenia.

The cost of one camera with mailing costs and taxes is approximately 20.00 EUR. The cost of a set for satellite internet and prepayment for annual use is approximately 7,260.00 EUR. And they need more sets!

We are still searching for the most cost-effective provider of satellite internet for Darfur region. We invite you to submit your offer or suggestion.

Drilling rig for Darfur

Slika je simbolična. “I do not have much hope left. The people of Darfur have suffered a great deal while waiting for the International Community to take action. After long years of suffering the quiet genocide, 60 percent of the people of Darfur ended up in refugee camps in Sudan and Chad. The government forces have killed more than 400,000 people. Just a few hours ago, I have received a call that at night the government airplanes have bombed a well in the village Gidji Gidji and killed eight people. This is the new tactics - bombing water resources.” As Križnar put it: Darfur is war for water. And the first genocide of the 21st century.

“Water is becoming scarce. The wells are drying out. And so are the river sources. It is getting worse. This is also due to weather changes, the consequence of global warming, which has greatly influenced the current political situation and state of security in Darfur. And it will only get worse,” says the free-spirited intellectual of Darfur who spent many years in prison as an adversary of a totalitarian regime.

Donations for drilling equipment

Purpose of payment: Drilling rig

We can help the people of Darfur with a drilling rig placed on a truck so that they will be able to uncover new water sources and thus ensure a safe supply for civilians. Money for such a device (the cost is approximately 90,000 EUR) is desperately needed. Some funds have already been collected, however they are definitely insufficient. What is needed is a contribution from all who wish to help a suffering population.

Darfurians have found a used mobile drilling rig in Germany for 90,000 EUR. If you have a more appropriate offer or suggestion, we ask you to please notify us.

Darfur good luck charm – HIJAB

Let's help the people of Darfur to earn their help. First 200 amulets were bought in Darfur by founders and supporters of H.O.P.E. Humanitarian Foundation. All the earnings from selling the amulets will go to one of the projects described above.

In Darfur you will be hard pressed to come across someone who doesn't wear at least one HIJAB amulet. The Kujurs, being some kind of village magic men or shamans, make them from camel leather. The people believe that the amulets protect them from evil and bring good luck. Amongst the people circulate unbelievable tales of survival and lucky coincidences due to the amulets. Rebel soldiers sometimes have one hundred or more of these. They wear them around their necks, arms or belts. They believe that the amulets help them to survive...

With the purchase of an amulet you can contribute to the purchase of drilling equipment or internet for Darfur.

The recommended price of one amulet is 7.50 EUR. Mailing cost is approximately 3-5 EUR. The entire amount of your purchase will be dedicated to helping the people of Darfur, so you can contribute even more if you would like to.
Please specify to which account you would like to see your donation added:

  • Drilling equipment, deposit the amount in the following account: IBAN: SI56 6100 0000 1846 742

  • Cameras and internet, deposit the amount in the following account: IBAN: SI56 6100 0000 1966 537
You can pay for the amulet upon receipt. In this case, we will deposit the amount in your name to the H.O.P.E. Humanitarian Foundation.

Go to H.O.P.E. website for ordering and to leave your mailing address there.
